There is always hope. One-to-One Counseling recognizes that there are times in life when we just need a helping hand. We want to come alongside and encourage one another with Biblical truth that will make a lasting impact. God has given us all we need to know Him and to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. All our difficulties may not evaporate. However, when a person willingly submits to God’s instructions and clings to His promises there is hope and help.

All One-to-One counselors are pastors and laypeople who have completed a rigorous training program in biblical counseling and completed a formal application and approval process under the authority of the Elders of the church.
Counseling is available for any problems you may be facing – marriage, parenting, conflicts, grief, addictions, depression, anxiety, anger, etc. We believe the Bible provides thorough guidance and instruction not only for faith, but also for the practical issues of life (2 Peter 1:3; Romans 15:4).
Our counseling is based on biblical principles rather than those of secular psychology or psychiatry. By “biblical counseling” we mean that your counselor is a Christian with special training and experience in applying the truths of the Bible to life. We believe that the Bible speaks to all of life and to all of its problems, but sometimes it takes careful thought and prayerful wisdom to know how to make those connections. We believe that the Bible ultimately points us to a person and a relationship – Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer. We believe that real change comes when people learn to see themselves and their problems in the context of a living, vital relationship with Christ.
You can expect to be treated with compassion and respect as your counselor listens to your situation and seeks to help you think and live in a way that pleases Christ. Confidentiality is an important aspect of the counseling process. We will carefully guard the information you entrust to us.
Counseling sessions are provided at no cost as a grace ministry of Pleasant View Bible Church. However, if you have benefited from counseling and wish to contribute to the ongoing needs of our counseling ministry, donations are always appreciated.
Each request for counseling will be directed to a member of the counseling team who will contact the applicant to schedule an appropriate time to meet. This initial contact will usually be made within 24-48 hours upon receipt of the request. Days and hours vary depending on the individual counselor’s schedule. Our aim is to begin your counseling as soon as possible.
Counseling sessions typically last about one hour. Sometimes, depending on the problem, it may only be necessary to meet for one or two sessions. Other times, counseling may extend for a number of weeks.
“Counseling works if you work.” You will be expected to show a desire to grow and change -- guided by biblical principles and empowered by the Holy Spirit. You will be required to complete homework assignments between sessions to implement and ensure lasting change.
Before we schedule your counseling session, we require two preliminary steps:
1. Carefully read our Informed Consent and Counseling Policy
2. Fill out the Request for Counseling Form. This form can be completed either online or by printing the form and mailing or personally delivering the form to the church office. You can find the applications below.
3. The completed request form will be directed by the Counseling Administrator to an available counselor who will schedule a time to meet. All requests will be held in strict confidence.
